The floor at Lake Placid is a combination system, composed of a Robbins Bio-Channel subfloor system, over which was installed specially-profiled maple flooring in the court areas, and a Pulastic 2000 running area at the perimeter.
It was installed over the existing urethane floor. The maple flooring covers approximately 15,000 square feet, and the 11 millimeter thick Pulastic covers the remaining 5,000 square feet. The maple floor system is a Bio-Channel Starâ„¢ system, which has passed all of the standards for safety and resilience called for under international standard testing. All of the courts are dimensioned for international competition; in fact, metric measuring tapes were used to lay out the game lines.
Financing for the installation was provided by The Home Depot, an official sponsor of the United States Olympic Team.
